De Singel Arts Campus

The De Singel Arts Campus is located on the Antwerp motorway ring road. In 2010 it was expanded by 12,000 m2 to further De Singel's ambition to become an international arts campus. De Singel is a production house for the arts, both in the educational sense and to accommodate exhibitions and the performing arts.

The building currently contains a number of large halls and exhibition spaces. Over a third of the building is intended to house the conservatory of music of University College Antwerp. The new construction is clearly recognisable by its wooden facade.

Merford supplied six sound-insulating emergency-exit doors for this building. These doors are hung with high-arched hinges that can be fitted with wooden slats to match the façade. The idea behind this is that the doors should not be visible on the outside. To complement these, Merford also supplied four sound-insulating fire-resistant interior doors for the music studio.
