Cultural Centre DRU Factory Complex (Ulft - The Netherlands)

The renovated DRU factory complex in the town of Ulft was opened as a cultural centre on 1 September 2009, marking the completion of a unique renovation project. The factory buildings of the former 'pots and stoves factory' Diepenbrock en Reigers Ulft (DRU) have been transformed a into cultural centre encompassing a theatre hall in the former porter’s lodge, a centre for pop music, a library, a music school, a Turkish community centre, accommodation for archaeological associations, a Regional Vocational Training Centre and exhibition spaces. The renovation was carried out with a view to preserving as many authentic details in the interior as possible. This is why the complex still contains many features that speak of its original industrial purpose, such as cast iron support structures, travelling cranes, old staircases etc.
Merford supplied several types of sound-insulating doors for the theatre and pop concert hall to prevent noise nuisance in the adjacent areas.
